http://youtu.be/VaFJ9pmR1c4 (Dixie Chicks, Ready to Run video)
I know that the Dixie Chicks, Ready to Run is more about being ready to go when the opportunity comes about (Are they secretly Doctor Who fans?), but there is some underlying "trapped" feelings mentioned, so this is my current thought process... I'm trapped, and don't know how to fix it.
Truth is trapped isn't really accurate, I have a wonderful home, I'm close to family, I have great friends (no love life, but honestly, who needs that?) I'm doing theater stuff (getting paid to do it as well) and I have a really good job (I get paid to play online or do nothing all day long, most days. And I'm able to pay the bills and have some leftover, woofreakinghoo!) So, why do I have this overwhelming urge to get out and move? This is something that has been weighing heavy on my heart for a few months now. The need, to be untethered and just float like the leaves in the wind, is calling this gypsy. LOUDLY and it sounds something like this...Scotland or Italy would be lovely, To Far? Okay, How about Chicago, New York, Atlanta (somewhere where public transportation will help since you are basically vehicle-less)? Come on, Vancouver would be an adventure. I really do have Peter Pan syndrome with the growing up and taking responsibility with age. Neverland would be wonderful for me I think.
Some of it is that soon the play will be over so my nights will be back to being lonely. And my main problem at work is that I get stressed or bored (How much Facebook can you really stand if you are older than 12) and those are the only two settings at the moment. I think I'm doing a good job, get told I've gotten the hang of something, and then someone else says "Nope, not this time." The Smashing Pumpkins, Bullets with Butterfly Wings lyrics are going off in my head: "Despite all my rage I'm still just a rat in a cage." Trapped...
Current mood of feeling trapped is probably brought on because today is one of those days. Another, older customer has an issue (customer error and wanting to use warranty to fix the problem), I've reported it a dozen times, told the external parties what the boss man said to say after looking into the issue, and still I get complained to. So I asked the boss man to call the customer and try to make her understand what he was saying, because obviously the multiple times that I've said the same thing haven't gotten through. His response was that he would call me when he was finished with the job he was working on. So here I sit, waiting for Running Man boss to call and fuss at me because I can't handle this one on my own, Yippee!
In the past the longing to move on had been easier to deal with (break up with someone and move onto another apartment, find another job... get divorced and move back closer to home and use the need to be near family as an excuse), but now that I'm in a better place, I'm not sure that going back to the barely scrapping by lifestyle will work. I've got Abby (and Loki) to consider now too. Monster would just go with the flow, but cats are easier to deal with in that regard, no need to worry about fenced in yards, and decent places to walk if the yard isn't fenced in. Not to mention most apartments are pet-free now-a-days and it's easy to hide a cat, not so much a dog. AND it's not like the job market is that great. Sure, I could probably wait tables again, but the expense of moving alone is a huge incentive to just stay put.
Any other gypsies (or even gypsies at heart) that have these problems? What do you do? What should I do? I know that if I wait it out, the call will go away for a little while, another play will come up, work will hit another good busy spot (that always helps) BUT the call will come back, and it's usually louder when I ignore it.
As usual, I've run out of steam. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated, until then...Ciao.
Another Chapter in Insanity...my crazy thoughts, rantings, and well, you get the point.

Sinking feeling that the Sink might sink me today
“Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part” this is my mantra today.
Okay, maybe planning had nothing to do with it, but yelling at me, and making tisk-tisk threats, on a crappy cellphone connection, because you are busy when we are available, and we are unavailable when you want us to be there, won't change the fact that it's not happening today, lady!
Clarification: Woman that we did a job for a few months ago called after hours last night (I leave at 430, am supposed to leave at 4 if I don't take a lunch, but I am always here til 430 for the OT; the call came at almost 6pm), I returned the call first thing this morning (before 8 am when I'm supposed to be here btw!) The sink that we had installed with the counter-tops had fallen. Sounds bad, I know, but it happens. The epoxy sometimes is bad (last year we had an entire batch of silicone that was faulty), sometimes the plumber plumbs the water in to soon, sometimes the customer puts dishes and things in it before it is set, so it weakens it, it happens. Usually the guys go back in, reset the sink and go on about their merry ways.
Thing is, we are a company of 7 people: 2 owners, 2 fabricators, 2 installers and me. Of those 7 people, only 3 know how to do the sinks, the 2 installers and the one owner. Today the installers actually have a job, in Albany, and it's decent sized, so they won't be finished until late. The owner refuses to send them from Albany to London (extra 3+ hours), after hours, because that's just the way he rolls, and he couldn't do it himself, because he has his daughter tonight, and cannot leave her alone (she's 4). His solution is that since the guys are going to London in the morning for a job, he would send them to her first. It would be fixed before 10 in the morning. She called me back saying that it was "unacceptable" because she needed it done tonight. That her husband would go ahead and do it himself, but the word of mouth would be how shoddy our work was. The owner's reaction was that if she was available at this moment he would go, but since it HAD to be after hours, that it was 1 night to go without the sink (technically 2 but that's beside the point) surely she could wait that long.
I'm sure that after she has talked to her husband tonight, after her dental surgery, I'll either get another call from her stating that they need to come in the morning, but she's still unhappy, or the husband will call and bitch because the wife is nagging. Either way, it's NOT getting done tonight, and I'm not happy with being in the middle!
Now that I've vented, off to read and catch up on some other things. Fingers crossed that today isn't all going to be like this!

Dreams
I feel like a damn narcoleptic! Easily I could crash and sleep right here at the computer, but since I'm at work that would probably be a bad thing. Instead I will try to get last nights sleep session documented. As I have stated many times, I don't usually dream, mostly due to the fact that I usually don't sleep that well. Recently I have been getting 6-7 hours of sleep a night, but am still waking up like it was just a nap. So onto last night's dream...
I know that many interpreters will insist that the dream just means that I watch way to much damn television, which I admit that I do...but I'm so not sure what the underlying dream is about, hint hint...if anyone reading is into this kinda thing, help a sister out ;)
Renaissance festival, Mom and I are walking around. She is dressed as Maleficent, I think. I know that we are trying to keep me safe and away from someone, but it wasn't 100% clear who that was supposed to be, at first, I think it was Hook (as a late teenaged boy, wait did I mention that I was a younger version of me as well, so it's not that creepy) Back to the story...Hook had arrived at the festival with another group of boys, some normal, some nerdy, some menacing. Somewhere along the path, mom and I got split up, I don't remember if we were fighting or I'd just decided to wonder off, but I ended up in a hut with my best friends: Bernadette (I think this was Elaine), Wolowitz (Chris maybe?), Raj (who was more like Wolowitz and Sheldon) and Amy (who was way more like Penny). As we were in the hut, Raj kept looking at computer surveillance to watch over the group of boys, which he loses. The next thing I remember I was walking with Berny and Wolowitz (because Raj and Amy needed the hut to have sex.)and we were looking for the boys (many of them were lost, yeah yeah!) We kept hiding behind a wooden fence and peeking around the gate to see if we could locate anyone.
About this time (6:18am btw) I woke up, and despite the fact that I had another 45 minutes of sleep, I could only manage 15 minute intervals. Normally when I do dream, I almost never pic up back where I woke up, but I do know that this time, I kept returning to the festival, now hiding from mom and desperately looking for Hook.
I'm not sure what this dream is saying to me, but I find it worth trying to remember. Now that I'm fully awake again, I'm off to get some work done (play angry birds and catch up on some of the tv shows I missed last night. I do love my job!)

Previous Post Styx
Last night I must have had some dreams, this has been more common that usual, but I'm taking it as a good thing, because when I woke up this morning I was thinking about a person I knew MANY MANY years ago, also Renegade was stuck on Broken Radio.
When I was in High School, it was very uncommon for me to not have a crush on someone. I didn't date, nobody wanted me. Not a pity thing, just a fact. Most of my senior year, and for a bit after I graduated, I had a crush on one of my brothers friends, (Jeff) while his little brother (Scott) had a crush on me. Back then I was oblivious, not to mention he was literally like 12, so he was the annoying little brother that got in the way.
Several years ago (2005ish), I was at a party and happened to meet a guy, who looked at me and said, "You're Dana, (this actually happens often, I think I look different, but people who haven't seen me since I was 8 know me when we pass on the street. True story!) I knew you when I was in school, and I think you liked my brother." It was Jeff's little brother, Scott. Grown up, charming, and beautiful. We caught up, did the how have you been, what are you up to routine. One of the things he was excited about was that the following weekend he and a group of his friends were going to a Styx concert. (Hence the song) We sat around the bonfire drinking, singing and laughing, we really did hit it off, but we were both at the party with other people. And sadly at the end of the party, we went our separate ways.
Regret, Imagination and Loneliness will work to make you do silly things. Dreaming has turned me into a creeper. I've honestly tried to look him up. Since I'm friends with his brother on Facebook, I thought it would be easy, but he doesn't appear to have any social media. I did learn that he is still here in the 'Set, and a geologist for some gas company. I know exactly where the office is, and it would be so simple for me to just drive by and look. It will take much restraint to not be that kind of person.
Ick, just reading that last paragraph has done wonders for clearing my head. I'm not even sure what this post is supposed to convey; DON'T let regret lead you life, probably. It's almost time to go home, I've got Niece duty and Rehearsal tonight. So that's all for now.
Ciao.

Grumble Grumble Grumble GRRRRR
Not sure if it's because of my lack of sleep, despite having actually tried to sleep a decent amount last night, (I really do need to have that checked soon, bed at 2300, out by 2330, up at 0315, 0520, 0612 and finally at 0705, and dreaming, SO not like me ...) or if it's the Italian/Irish/German in me, but today is NOT the day to piss me off (This witch will find some VooDoo that you don't want, promise...) The temper fuse is short today and doesn't look like it's growing anytime soon. Who knows it might even be me picking up someone else, the JOYS of being an Empath.
All I know is that the mantra isn't working:
Breath, in through the nose, out through the mouth...Inhale... Exhale...eye twitch...twitch...twitch...AAAAArrrgh!
Nope not working.
Okay, having had a couple of hours now to do other things and attempt to calm down. Actually being busy at work, somehow seems to have helped a little. Also getting cool inside news worked wonders too. (nothing really just confirmation that a much anticipated chain restaurant is coming to town, and when...)
For those of you who don't know me (everyone, right?) might not know that the berg that I live in is small-ish, but trying to expand. The town went wet last year and we've seen 3 bars move in, so our nightlife almost isn't nonexistent anymore. No, seriously, almost everything closes at dark here in the 'Set, so that was a HUGE deal. Our idea of "fancy" restaurants are 4-5 Mexican places, 2 Chinese, Sonny's and a Ruby Tuesday (there's also a Roadhouse (yippee, feel the sarcasm dripping from each letter.) coming in, but it's not finished yet). Now the anticipated restaurant is Steak & Shake, and definitely not fancy, but for a place that has 2 restaurants that stay open past 10pm and they are greasy dives (yeah, yeah, I know... but S&S has better food!) this is big news, because it means that, with a little luck, other chains might come in too. And this makes my little heart extremely happy.
The funk and short fuse are still there, but I probably am not going to be exploding on anyone at the moment, so that is progress. For some reason, today is busy, so I'm done for now.

I'm Destined to be the Crazy Cat Lady, and That's OK
Best form of Birth Control? Watching someone else's children!
In case you can't decipher that, I'm watching a 10 yr old (nephew-in-law) He's sweet, but needs so much attention. I don't remember being THAT needy at 10, I watch my (almost) 12 yr old niece and it's not as bad, but she's clingy too. What happened to me? I Honestly really used to want to have kids, I used to babysit/nanny all the time when I was younger, and could actually see myself one day having 2-3 kids. Now the longer I am left alone with OPKs I am ready to murder. Lol
That's all I have to say for the moment.

I do not think that means what you think it means...
Soapbox moment #Way to many to count...
One of my Facebook friends (she's actually my sister-in-law's sister) posted a comment that as innocuous as it was, made me see red. I know that it shouldn't bother me as much as it did, but I'm using the blog now to keep from making a comment on Facebook that will just come off childish and bitchy.
A's comment was simply that she'd finished doing the kids laundry, and on to the adult clothes and towels. (ok nothing bad there...) Then she went on to say that if she had the money, she would just hire a nanny to do the laundry.
This is where my fury began, I know it's a nothing comment, we all make them. I think that it ran up my nerves so much, because while I was a nanny, it was often my job to make sure that the laundry was done, (actually the reason I left the family I was with, was because of a difference on how to change the duvet covers, and fold them), make sure the mother's tea, and sometimes their (the parents) dinner was ready for when she/they got home, and once a month, I had to make sure that the house was tidy for when the housekeepers would arrive so they didn't have that much to do (they charged by the hour, so I had to make sure that the job didn't last more that just a couple of hours, AND they only came once a month, which meant I had a months worth of dusting, sorting, etc... to do)
Now what do you think the person taking care of your children should be worth? When I was just babysitting, I so could have been part of the Babysitter's Club, I worked almost every night, I would make at least $5 per hour, per kid. And it was usually only a couple of hours, no other chores but to keep the child safe and happy. With my actual nanny job, my salary, which was for watching 2 tween girls (9 & 11), 5-6 days a week for 20-30 hours a week, plus cleaning, laundry, feeding, tea making, chauffeuring them to school (+homework duty), piano lessons (+making sure that they practices said piano), horseback riding lessons, girl scouts and anywhere else they might need to go, was $100 a week, that was roughly $5 an hour (back then minimum wage went from $4.75-$5.15). Yep that was it, and once a month, I would have "taxes" taken out of it so I only made $75 that week. Not that it really matters, but this was 15 years ago, and both of the parents were wealthy doctors. This is a whole other hot topic so I will end this rant here.
In my opinion, a nanny is responsible for the children...That should be their only concern. Make sure that the kids are where they need to be, get them there when they need to be there, and that they are safe. I condone that, yes, feed the kids, make sure that they are dressed, help with school work, play (entertain) with them, even cleaning up the KIDS messes is a given. But I draw the line at nannies being used as maids. I will even say that if the requests for extra services are only occasional, that's ok, but to have it expected, all the time, that is a NO!
If the adult/parent is wearing the clothes, then they are the ones that should be responsible for cleaning them, not the nanny. If the adult/parent makes a mess in the kitchen, they should be the ones to clean it up, not the nanny. If you are going to hire someone to clean up after you, hire a maid or housekeeper, leave the nanny to the kids. I would often come home in the afternoon and the sink be filled with dishes from the night before (and she was one of those cooks that used every dish in the house), and there would be a note saying I'll be home by 6, have the place cleaned before you drop the kids off at_____... Now, from my experience, if the nanny is busy cleaning your sheets, doing the dishes, and putting away your laundry, they aren't watching the children, and that's when bad things happen (not all the time, but it Does happen sometimes!)
Ok, I think I've run out of steam, and the fury has passed...
My point? a Nanny is meant to watch your kids, not be a slave to your every whim. If you need a maid, hire one of those instead.

Dumbo...
Ok, so this post isn't actually about the Disney cartoon, but it is about elephants.

Let it be said that I am a HUGE fan of musicals and am thrilled that there are more being translated to film. (Rock of Ages, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Hairspray, Sweeney Todd, RENT, Moulin Rouge, just to name the few recent ones.) Where is this going you're asking yourself...
I am re-watching Les Miserables. AMAZING film, breath-takingly beautiful!!! (My only dislike is Russell Crow, should have been Gerard Butler, and SPOILER ALERT, What was up with his death scene? The noise when he hits the wall, Eww. WHY?!) And when I am finished I will most likely move on to my favorite, Moulin Rouge. Why haven't we done more with Ewan McGregor's voice??
What does this have to do with elephants?? Getting on to the point, or question I suppose... Is it me, or has anyone else noticed that the French like pachyderms? Seems that both of my current favorite musicals are set in France, and both have a "functional" elephant statue. I do realize historically there was an elephant statue, commissioned by Napoleon, at Bastille, that Hugo mentions (evidently unfavorably, I haven't read it, but sites I've looked at, mentions it was with disdain...) in his book Les Miserable. I'm also aware that there was an elephant at the Moulin Rouge. It was an attraction at the 1889 Montmartre Exhibition.
And after doing some digging online, I've noticed that there have been several others as well. (Like the photo below) Is there some historical symbolism that I've missed? I know the Feng Shui statues with the trunk up equal protection/good luck, while Hindus associate elephants with Ganesha, and that Buddhists see them as a symbol for wisdom and knowledge, but in the 1800's what was the obsession? Don't get me wrong I think elephants are majestic, and have a small resin one on my dresser (a friend gave it to me) but why, WHY are there so many statues in France?

"Gravity for the Elephant, Paris, France"
[THIS IS NOT MY IMAGE IT WAS FOUND ONLINE, THANK YOU TO THE PHOTOGRAPHER!]
That's my randomness for the day. Seriously if you have an answer or idea as to why, all comments are welcome!

AYAotD?
Must say that despite his usual douchiness, my boss (Sir Poop, he literally only comes to my office building so he can use the toilet and then tell me about his shits...) has real moments of awesomeness.
I just got told that I'm off on Monday, paid, for the holiday. Then, because the other boss (Running Man, not the dance) will be out mountain climbing next week (He's going to Mount Rainier and another one out there) Sir Poop has declared that we need to watch episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark?... Tuesday, we will watch the "scariest episodes" of the show, just so we can see if we can find the episode he remembers. (kinda) All he remembers are there are "black, shadowy, faceless" men, it takes place in a house, and that it came out around 1993. (he is certain of that because of who he was dating at the time...) We even read all of the descriptions and none of them were close to what he is talking about. If we don't find it on Tuesday, that's what the rest of the week is for, his words. I asked him if he was certain that it was indeed AYAotD? or if it could be Goosebumps, but he is positive that it has to be, because he's never seen Goosebumps. Any of my readers remember the show? Does this episode sound familiar to ANYONE?
Normally when he drops in (other than to shit)and wants to get chatty it's annoying because he is such a colossal douche, that and I am usually reading or watching something on my own and have to stop to pretend to be interested in what he's yammering on about, but I have a feeling that next week, might not be that bad. LoL
That's all I have for now. Have a big weekend planned, but that's another post :)

What's on my mind...
I was so going to just say I had nothing to report, say Hi and be done with it for the day, but I started thinking (Oh No, LoL) and I do have something to Ramble on about. Something that has been weighing heavy on my soul for months now...
If we are lucky we all have one of those friends and actually aren't the ones I'm going to vent about, a friend that come to you for advice and then does nothing with it. In fact, goes and does exactly the opposite. My best friend from college, J, is going though a hard time at the moment. HE was dumped back at the end of last year, the girl immediately started dating someone else RED FLAG NUMBER 1, and within weeks told J that she was pregnant (Could be his, could be the other guys, I have never trusted her since then). She broke up with the other guy for numerous reasons and has had an off again, on again relationship with J. (That she continues to hide from her friends and family RED FLAG NUMBER 2 PEOPLE) I'm still going with the "She's a Hooker, and is only using you for emotional stimulation", and "You need to be careful, because I think she is incapable of actually having REAL feelings for you" But he is so in love with "C" that he cannot see that he is stalking this girl, and has completely stressed himself out over WHY she doesn't want to be with him. And this, in turn, stresses me out, because I cannot fix the situation for him. His phone calls make him sound like a 12 year old fangirl trying to figure out why her Justin Bieber crush doesn't like her. And what I find outrageously infuriating is that I have given him the same advice at least once a week since last October, "MOVE ON, she's needs to decide what she wants and you are making her feel pressured into making a decision which you aren't going to like if you keep it up." And his response each time? "What does she have to feel pressured about, I'm just being her friend, I know I should move on,but, I just know that if she gave me a chance, she would be happy, why has she given all these other guys multiple chances and I haven't gotten one" I keep wondering what his advice to me would be if the roles were reversed. Sigh. There are times that I think that he is starting to understand, and even gets that he is dumping all of his relationship garbage on me, because he will say, "That's it I'm going to stop bothering you with her" but a few days (hours) later it's more of the same.
"C" is currently avoiding his calls/texts/FB messages and it is driving him bonkers, making him ask what he did wrong (He keeps tabs on when she is online, who she's with, where she is supposed to be: STALKING!!!). Her reasoning for breaking up with him this time was that "She didn't have time for a relationship, but she still wanted to have him in her life" RED FLAG NUMBER 3 Maybe it's just me, but isn't that girl code for "It's not you, it's me"? And I've told him this, and I've tried to explain that her saying that she wanted him in her life was her way of saying "Let's be Friends, so I can manipulate you into being in love with me, but I'm never going to return the favor" Multiple times I have advised him that he needs to delete her from FB, to tell her to stop texting/calling him (because he will be on the road to getting on with his life and then she will send him a message, and it's that downward spiral), to let her go. Instead he pleads with her to let him know if she still has feelings and to give them a shot. Always she says, that she just doesn't think that she wants a relationship now, because how could she bring someone on the ridiculous roller coaster ride of her life RED FLAG NUMBER 4. The latest is he thinks that there might be another guy, honestly I think he might be correct, and he keeps devising plans on how to "catch her with this other guy". He is an extremely intelligent person, so, why does "love" make us idiots? (We all know my feelings on the "L" word.)
AND NOW...
I despise the fact that I could ever take HER side, but part of me gets the no time thing, girls are like computer browsers, we have hundreds of tabs open, and it bogs us down, there is just so much to get stressed over, and he just doesn't understand that. She's 30+ weeks pregnant (she's due early July, and not wanting to put a father down on the certificate, but he is wanting to do a paternity test to let him know if it's his or the other guys), she is/was taking classes, has a part time job/making no money, and a life, I also know that J is 8+ hours away from her. Who knows, she might feel differently if he was closer, and they could live happily ever after (WooHoo), but the truth is, he isn't, and long distance relationships are no fun, especially if there is a child involved. J's problem with there being "no time" is that she still seems to be living a life, going to concerts with friends, going to baby conventions, and hanging out with her family. "How can she say she doesn't have time if she is doing all of this stuff" EXACT WORDS!!! Yesterday was, I think, the straw that tipped me over. Our conversations have read like a repeat playlist for weeks now, and when I commented that "I got nothing" because honestly I don't have it in me to say the same thing anymore, his response was "There's nothing to get" Missing my point again by 100%
Why do we do this crap to ourselves? Why do we put so much faith and self worth into other people? Why is it so hard to move on when there are obvious signs that it's time to do so? Reading and re-eading, re-editing, and so forth, this post, I'm afraid that I'm not only talking about him with her, but with him and myself, our friendship... We have had plenty of ups and downs, years of not getting to talk to each other because of life. I love J dearly, (I'm sure you're probably reading this and thinking that the reason it stresses me is because I'm in love with him and that that's why it bothers me so much, but really that's not it, he is family) he's been my best friend for so long now that I really do think of him as a brother. Point? If I let myself get so bothered by his relationship that it's stressing me out, is it worth it? Our friendship has become so one sided, that I need the answer to be "Yes" because I don't have that many friends and to me, my friends are family. And if the answer is "No" then how do I delete a family member? (That's another rant all together! Grrr and one day I might delve into it)
I'm determined to wait "C" out, she is not the first female that I've picked up the pieces because of, but if all of this lasts much longer, I fear, that for my sanity, I might be forced to figure out how to make J one of the weird uncles that is only around for holidays and you never hear about any other time of the year. And if some miracle happens and she does last for good, then I have to figure out how do I pretend that I don't actually hate her because of the shit she has put US through. Again, Sigh...
That's enough for now, I've made myself irritated just thinking about how whiny this whole post sounds LoL. Until later...Ciao

Tax Returns...
So every year I splurge on one thing for myself and usually use the rest of my tax returns to pay bills. The past couple of years the splurges have been ink, shoulder and calf tattoos. This year, because I actually have a job that lets me pay my bills, and have some left over (YAY for NOT living quite paycheck to paycheck) I think I'll continue the tattoo tradition (I have about 6 that I have plans for. I already have 5), but I've also just taken advantage of my Amazon Prime (Best gift to myself, EVER!!) and bought myself one of the BEST (albeit, underrated) TV series. All 5 seasons, 2 days shipping, for under $100.

I remember being really excited when I first learned about the show, Chuck, it was during a time when everything on TV seemed like it was either a spinoff of CSI/Law and Order or yet another craptastic reality dating/surviving show. There were other awesome shows that came out in 2007 Big Bang, Reaper,Torchwood but there were some real clunkers too, K-Ville, Anchorwoman, Viva Laughlin.
Chuck wasn't going to be another cop or hospital drama (not that those are all bad shows), it was a spy show... and I've always kinda digged on some spies, Just call me MoneyPenny. Plus it had Adam Baldwin in it! How could you go wrong? In my opinion Zachary Levi and Yvonne Strahovski's chemistry was perfect! Joshua Gomez's character, Morgan, was one of my favorites, because I could identify with being the needy, clueless best friend. LoL And you had recurring character actors like, Tony "Candyman" Todd, Scott Backula (Quantum Leap, another one of my all time favs), Matt Bomer (what a hottie), Linda FREAKING Terminator Hamilton.
I'm not saying that there weren't bad episodes, I vaguely remember thinking that the finale was a cop-out, but, even the bad ones are worth the watch. So if you don't hear from me after Monday for a few days, just know that I am fine, just catching up with an old friend, Mr. Charles Bartowski. Anyone wanna make a party of it?

Broken Radio (Take 2)
I finally broke down to see what all the fuss was about Tumblr and have decided to use it to launch my newest blog attempt. After what happened with my last Broken Radio in My Head blog, I think a change in venue will be good, and it's about time to pick it back up... I will stay here for my Ramblings, and if I decide to do the year to...whatever it will be here as well. But check out my new "Music" blog at

Do Unto Others...
Sorry for this religious-y post!
A few weeks ago I got unfriended by someone on Facebook because I made the statement that if you don't know me, then please do not put me in religious/political groups or invite me to events that I might not be interested in, because you don't know me, you don't know if it would offend me... The reason for the post was that I was put into a religious group that was anti-gay marriage, anti-Obama, anti-abortion, anti-alcohol,very Pro-Baptist. As we have already established, I am very much pro-gay, pro-life, pro-alcohol and don't care if you're Baptist, I'm not, so don't try to save me... And don't even get me started on my political beliefs because I don't have enough time in the day.
In a previous post I mentioned, I refer to myself as an Episcopagen, I'm more Wicca/Druid than Episcopalian (which is what I grew up as), throw in some Buddhism and some Gandhi and you're on the right track. I believe in Nature, and I am now trying to follow that path more steadily.
The reason for today's post is that it has happened again. Not the unfriended thing, but the being invited to an event meant to "save" me. I declined the event, and have posted/liked every non-Christian post that has gone through my news-feed. And So far I have bit my tongue about being added to those kind of pages again. I do try to respect others views on religion and politics. I am accepting of a great many thing. But when it comes to those who disrespect my views is when I get mouthy. I know it shouldn't bother me as much as it does, especially when I try to "practice what I preach" with the tolerance thing, but for some reason, the fact that this continues to happen, irks me.
I think my new philosophy is going to be that if it's done to me, I'm going to do it to them. I wonder how many of the people on my friends list would enjoy being added to some Pagen/Wiccian event?
That's all for now. I'm sure there will be more to come on this topic later. :)

Churchill - Change
This was the opening band for the concert last night...

Phillip Phillips Concert
A couple of weeks ago I got a message on FaceBook from my friend, Anthony, that I hadn't seen since high school, *cough 20 years ago *cough. He asked what I was doing on the 18th, and when I said that I didn't have plans, he told me that I did now. I am SO glad that he did, I got to experience a TERRIFIC concert last night. We were 6 rows back, center stage. And it was... EPIC!!! I was a fan of Mr. Phillip Phillips from the moment he took the audition stage on American Idol! I Love that Dave Matthew-sy sound, always have. And I was an avid voter for Phillip throughout that season. I even did the Happy dance when he won, you can ask my old roommate, she was there.

(This is one of my awesomely horrible pics I took)
The opening act was a group called Churchill, and I will say that of all the concerts I have been to, some of the best performances were from the starting acts, these guys were no exception. They Rocked!! I even bought their CD and got their autographs. :) The drummer, when he was playing looked like a BLOND Norman Reedus (YUM!)

While one of the announcements at the concert was that photography and recording was prohibited, I swear that 99% of the audience (And about 60% of that was women that were well older than me, so I don't feel as bad for being Cougar-esque about my infatuation for Phillip) had their phones out and shot away. I admit, I too am guilty, but as usual my pics/vids aren't anything worth sharing, as demonstrated above. Here is a link to someone else's video of one of the songs Phillip sang, I wish that the footage of the concert we went to last night was even 1/2 as good as this persons. [THIS IS NOT FROM THE CONCERT I WENT TO, THIS WAS TAKEN MONTHS BEFORE]

For some reason YouTube isn't cooperating and posting the vids as usual, but PLEASE CLICK the link to hear a groovy mash-up of Lollipop/Lose Yourself/All We Do Is Win. (Anyone who knows me, knows my secret obsession with Eminem, so this was a real treat to hear in the concert.
We even got a copy of the set list from the show...Stacy, the rocking chick that was with my group went up afterwards and asked one of the security guys if we could have it.

The one titled New Song can be heard on this link, but again YouTube and Blogger aren't playing nicely today...

About 1/2 though he kept commenting about how sweaty and hairy he was, and that did start an impromptu version of "It's getting hot in here" I think that if a person could actually get pregnant though sexy thoughts, 95% of the women, and maybe even some of the men, in that arena would be having kids in 40 weeks. Whooo it was sexy sexy.
Well I could probably ramble on about how amazing the show was for several more hours, but I will stop now. Leaving with one more statement. If you get a chance to see Phillip Phillips and/or Churchill in concert GO!!! I have been to several concerts in my time, (Audio Adrenaline, Blues-fest featuring BB King, Blessed Union of Souls, Cake, Pearl Jam--probably the worst one I've been to, which is sad because I loved them, Vedder was drunk the entire set and it was just not worth watching!, Augustana, Goo Goo Dolls, Maroon 5, Counting Crows...) and this was one of the best ones I've seen.

Pics and Ideas
I'm just playing around with the idea of doing the yearly tribute and seeing how hard it would be to add pics and media.
So it appears that Blogger isn't that hard to upload pics onto. These are my babies, Loki (cat) and Abigail (dog). I will attempt non-YouTube videos at another time.

I've always been a cat person. Seriously I cannot remember a time that we didn't have a cat in the family. They are so much easier to deal with than dogs. You don't have to walk them, play with them (yes I play with the cat but he isn't as demanding at the dog), pretty much make sure that the have food, water and a clean litter box and you are good. I was convinced that I would never own a dog, but since I got Abby 3 years ago (I've already gotten into the reasons for this in earlier posts), I have officially become a dog lover, and have actually considered getting another one! LoL
Sooooo... My research shows that there are 154 episodes of Gilmore, 170 of Supernatural, 202 of X-files, close to 800 Doctor Who and King has published something like 73 books. I think Doctor Who, while I love it, is out because there are so many, and so many that aren't available. The other series, there are to many to do weekly (King is closest, but while I've read 95% of his books, and I read fairly quickly. I'd have to reread some of them to contribute, and some of them it would take me longer than a week to trudge through *Cough Dark Tower series, *Cough The Stand *Cough) but not enough to do daily...so I could double up and hit multiples. (Combine X-Files and Supernatural, I'd have some leftovers but I could stick with a theme) I could do the baking/cooking thing but that is done so much that I am afraid to venture into it, and the ramifications of baking that much would increase my weight/bp/cholesterol all of which need to go down instead of up. This leads me to the idea of healthy recipes or even tracking gym time. But honestly being a gym bunny doesn't appeal to me (I enjoy running but where I have murdered my poor ankle, that's just not an option anymore) and most of the healthier recipes I've seen involve foods that I have no desire to eat. (Beets, Artichoke, Peppers, YUCK!). I'll ponder some more. But seriously, if there is anyone out there that wants to chime in, feel free.

My Year Of...
I've started reading a blog by a wonderfully sweet lady, I've met her twice, and both times she was great. Sadly to this day, I will always kinda dislike her, even though she has never done anything to me, just because she got to marry the ONE... Sigh...
Back-story: I started college, auditioned and was cast for my first play, meet a guy and fell head over heels for him.
Me being the socially awkward chicken that I am, said nothing, became friends and watched as he dated girl after girl. He eventually started dating a good friend of mine, T. They were together for YEARS, a decade, maybe. When they finally broke up, he reconnected with me and told me that he used to joke with T, about how I was the one that got away. WOOHOO!! Really?!?! I was ecstatic.
He and I went out a couple of times, (dinner, movies, nothing else) and then I don't know what happened. He just stopped calling me. Many years later I found out that he had heard from another source that something he had only told a couple of people (including me and this source, who also had a thing for him, and she was friends with the person that told the story...) had gotten out. He believed that I was the one that had talked. Thing is, back then, I didn't know anyone anymore, and I certainly didn't talk to anyone. I wouldhave walked across a desert of broken glass, barefoot, picked up tarantulas for him (anyone who knows me, knows how TERRIFIED I am of spiders!), so there was NO way I was going to betray him by saying something he asked me not to. Not to mention, at the time I was living with someone (Please don't read, HO, here. This relationship was already busted up and we were actually just living together more as roommates than actually dating, but if HE would have asked me to be his girlfriend, I would have moved out in a heartbeat), so my life with this guy was 100% a secret.
Ok, you're thinking enough of that, back to the point...
The sweet lady's blog is about her love of the Sci-Fi series Star Trek, (My Year of Star Trek) She has dedicated a year to watching all of the series and is keeping a current blog about it. I'm only a few posts in, but it's fabulous.
It made me think of all of the other people I have witnessed that have taken on this task of devoting themselves to something for a whole year. It's become almost a fad... The movie Julie/Julia is about a woman that decided to cook an item from Julia Child's cookbook each day of the year. One of the Pins that I found posted on Pinterest is from a woman that had a different crock-pot recipe for each day. Another one of the things I keep up with on Facebook is called A Year In a Kilt. The guy decided that on his 50th birthday, he would start wearing a kilt everyday, just to see if he could. His year is just about up and he has now decided that he might not go back to wearing pants. It's awesome to see his pictures and read the posts about the "looks he gets because he's an old man in a skirt." I might be bias, because I have a thing for Scotsmen and Kilts, but I wish more men would start wearing them.
Again, my point...
Sitting here, I'm trying to decide if I could even attempt some yearly mission. I, who, can't even commit to posting the BS daily status on Facebook/Twitter, let alone quasi-regularly to my blog. And if I did, what on Earth would I write about? My love for Gilmore Girls? Supernatural? Doctor Who? X-Files? Stephen King? Cooking??? Dare I try to take on Rachel Rays cookbooks, or make my own Pinterest cookbook? 365 days of desserts I've made from Pinterest. I can just imagine how much weight I would gain on that project. The thing about these kind of blogs is that eventually it's supposed to help you grow, but not necessarily from side to side LoL. Maybe I could go weekly instead of daily. 52 posts seems much more manageable than 365ish.
Baby steps... Thoughts??
Enough Rambling for one day...

What Dreams May Come
A friend posted on Facebook today about a conversation she had with one of her customers about death and what comes next. This is a topic that my friends and I have gone rounds over.
There are so many religions out there, who are we to say that one is right or wrong. Having said that, and I do believe it whole-heartedly, I refer to myself as a Episcopalian Pagan. I lean more towards Wicca and Druidism, but grew up going to the local Episcopal church. I had a crisis of faith after my priest committed suicide. His death all but tore my church apart, and I have struggled with organized religion since then. I took a couple of religion classes at college and learned that I am more spiritual than religious. I still occasionally go to church with the family, but I don't fear that I will burn in Hell (not that the Episcopalians ever preached that) because I sleep in on Sundays now.
I am a firm believer in reincarnation and karma. How else can you explain ghosts/spirits and deja vu? I have made several HUGE mistakes in this lifetime that will doom me to coming back as a slug/dung beetle or something equally as gross in my next life. Maybe I will get it closer to perfection the next time.
I cannot commit 100% to Heaven or Hell, but do believe in the path to enlightenment that will hopefully reunite us with ...(fill in the blank here), who knows, I like the idea of stardust. I have no desire to believe that there is a place where my loved ones might not be with me in the "afterlife" (If I've lived a great life and ascend to Heaven, but my best friend turned up in Hell, that's not the idea of a perfect place for me. I'm also talking about my animals, for they are my children, and I have been told by many that there aren't animals in Heaven. Bah.) While death is inevitable those loved ones are always with us in our hearts, we live, love and grow because they were in our lives. And just maybe they will be there again. This to me is why we have instant connections to certain people, because in someway that person is/has always supposed to have been there. Kindred Spirits as Anne Shirley said.
Now I sound like a crazy person that is just rambling and I will stop.

Happy Talkie-Talkie...
It never fails that when I get a call at work, I automatically get out of my chair and pace. And at some point in the conversation I have to say "excuse me, I have to get back to my desk so I can find something to write with." I even find myself wandering around when I get personal calls from my friends. Not sure what it is, but I just don't seem to be wired to sit and talk on the phone. (I never was one to just want to talk on the phone, even when I was a teenager) Maybe that was the reason I hated working call-center, that and Blackboard was horrible.
Does anyone else feel the need to pace when they are on the phone? My best friend will call and we will be on the phone for 45 min-hour. He lives 8+ hours away and likes to talk. But he can always tell when I am moving around, and he usually fusses at me. Why can't I just sit still?
That's my randomness for now.

Not doing so good!
Today is the birthday of my EKU Theater professor that died of cancer last summer. He was a wonderful man, who was always willing to give me a shot, and I could always count on him to make a pass at me when he was having a "straight" moment, which usually meant that he was hammered. I loved him dearly and miss him everyday.
Today is also the day that I found out that my "Theater Mama" has been diagnosed with stage 2 ovarian cancer. The doctors are hopeful that they will be able to get rid of all of the cancer when they do the emergency hysterectomy in the next few weeks. This wonderful woman has been in my life for more than 20 years now, and I am devastated to think of the local theater department without her.
There's really no point to this post, I just needed to get today off of my chest. :(

"Tension Breaker Had To Be Done"
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...
Can this day be finished already, I'm ready to crawl back under the covers! Basically, simple/no-brainer tasks are to difficult for me to do today, and I still have 2+ more hours of work left. And then I'm supposed to hangout with the old roommate. (yeah that one, but now it seems like she wasn't the one that sent the texts and I still don't know that is, but that's another story) At this rate, I might forgotten my name by then so I might need someone to remind me...
Fingers crossed that I make it, AND that tomorrow is better!!

Conflicted
Today is a friend's birthday. I am at a cross-roads as to whether I should post on his FB wall, as I have for many years, or just forgo it this year. We have told each other Happy Birthday every year for almost 20 years.
Let me explain, this friend (an ex, but on good terms) is now in prison. For very BAD things! He went in before Thanksgiving, and is still nowhere near finding out if and how long he might be there. I feel bad not doing so, but I'm sure that even if I did post, he would not see it. What to do, what to do?

Inclemate Weather
Saw something on Facebook this morning that "struck me funny". A friend of a friend had posted that because of the ice that everyone needed to be safe because the FD and EMS were shut down. I texted my brother to share said person's ignorance and to ask if that was ever a possibility. Maybe she did know something I didn't, but my hero brother has been doing this for fifteen years now and I can't ever remember him not going to work. (well not for non-personal reasons, LoL) I got the exact response I had anticipated getting.
She did have one thing correct, the roads are nasty everyone does need to drive safely, if they have to drive at all (it's not worth it, don't go out if you don't need to) At no point does EMS, FD, Police, dispatch, etc...close, ever. These brave people risk their lives 365 days a year, these offices don't close for holidays, weather or sickness. Someone is ALWAYS there.
Here is the point of today's random blog: be smart when you are out in bad weather (anytime really). Not only are you risking your life, but the lives of the first response teams. These people are someone's family members. They work long hours, for not nearly enough pay, and are away from their families to save/protect you. Respect them, for they are truly heroes.
That's all for now...

Failure...
I hate when I get fussed at. Hate it even worse when I deserve it. :( Forgot to make a payment to Aflac and had to tell the boss that I had to send in 2 months worth of payments. Wouldn't be so bad if I was allowed to write the checks when I got the invoices, but instead I usually have to ask permission if it's ok to send anything out. And then they pile up, and I just forgot. Le Sigh...
I'm in a funk today, and being yelled at hasn't improved my mood. Think it's time to go home and hide under my blankets. Maybe tomorrow will be better?

Chu-Chi Face
Having a bit of nostalgia as I sit here at work. My grandfather used to sing this song to me when I was a little girl. Missing him and my grandmother at the moment...

Inconsiderate Bitch
Breath...In through the nose, out through the mouth...
I'm finding that more and more, it takes less and less to make my blood boil. This morning it was a text from an old roommate/friend (we were co-workers). This is a person that for the 4 months that she lived with me, she Never paid for the cable/internet that she used everyday, complained that MY apartment wasn't to her taste, a person who everyday she lived with me, would tell me how bad a person I was because I didn't share the same view points as she did about living. How as a person who grew up in the country, I should strive to live that way. Truth is I will always be a city girl at heart. I love being able to go at 2am to the gas station 1/4 of a mile away and get something if I want. I would love to be able to order takeout at odd hours of the morning just because I can...(So far Somerset hasn't become that advanced, but I've got my fingers crossed, or there's always moving, LoL) A person, I never actually invited to move in with me, but in passing said, maybe if you move out from your new place, and need a roommate we can look together. Her plans fell through (She had broken up with her boyfriend and moved in with family that wanted her to pay more than she thought was fair) and she called me the next day and said, I'm moving in today, get that room ready. And honestly, when she moved out (she got back together with her boyfriend and moved back in with him), I was all to glad to dissolve the acquaintanceship.
Randomly over the past 6 months, she would get minutes on her phone (she thinks they are evil, as is all technology, and doesn't know why anyone would want to have one permanently) and she would send me "Hi how are you, I need to come visit sometime" texts. To which I always am nice and say sure, whenever, and hope that she doesn't show up. She is the type to just stop by unannounced, and usually when I am busy.
Today she texts me from an unknown number, from CO. I don't know anyone in CO! I'm one of those that will ask who it is, and if they won't tell me, I ignore them. She went on sending 7-8 more messages about how yes I did have that number, yes I knew exactly who it was and then let me know she was pregnant. I have gotten messages from wrong numbers, so I let her know, as a female, baby wasn't mine, but I was happy for whoever it was. To which her reply was, I needed to stop being an inconsiderate bitch and be happy for her...I didn't respond, and 2 messages later she tells me who she is. The last correspondence I've had with this female was more than a week ago, I checked, from a different number. Grrr. Usually I joke about being called a bitch, but for some reason, today, coming from her, it PISSED me off. It was probably the inconsiderate part and less the bitch, but still, sigh...
Ok, blood is back to normal. Rant is over.
Resolutions and Baby Steps
I've officially been single now for going on 3 years. And sadly I'm one of "those" kind of single people, you know the ones that are ashamed to be seen out in public alone, because geesh, single people are some kind of lepers... I've lived the hiding in shadows hermit thing for so long it's second nature, but today I did something out of the norm for the fear of becoming my grandmother.
I went out to eat, alone.
Granted it was only to KFC, but I went inside and ordered and sat there, all by myself, and ate. Normally I would have gone through the drive-through and brought my food back home, to eat alone, with the animals (Yeah I'm one cat away from being the crazy cat lady...1 dog, 1 cat) And guess what, nothing happened. None of the other diners pointed, or sneered, or looked pityingly at me, or anything other than enjoy their own meals. Next? I plan on going to the movies, think I'll go see Les Miserables. After that, who knows. Maybe this will be the year I take a vaction to somewhere exotic.
I figured that since we've hit the new year, my resolution to myself is to become more OK with who I am. Get out of the rut that I have been in for almost 3 years now. (Get up, go to work, come home, watch tv, rehearsal when there's a show, bed, repeat) I plan to do more things, get out of the house for more than just work and to stop waiting for someone to invite me to do things. I think this was all stemmed a couple of weeks ago when my mother asking me how much longer I was going to do the "celibate thing" and that made me start thinking about Grams (the grandmother/psycho bitch). Then last night I watched "Hope Floats" and there is a scene where Sandra Bullock has gone out to eat, alone, and Harry Conick Jr. tells her to be mysterious, like the choice is hers. And damnit, the choice is mine. And I choose to stop being afraid to go out alone. I choose to be adventurous and to LIVE my life instead of being some recluse.
My goal this year is to become the person I want to be, and be happy about who I see in the mirror. I know I'm not going to be the twig thin model type, I have come to terms with that, but I strive this year to become healthier, and more active. Making more friends, even if it means just reconnecting with old ones that I have neglected. And on that note, I'm going to finish here and go write a much overdue letter (yes letter) to a friend that has always been an inspiration to me.
I hope that you my nonexistant readers will also take the baby steps to becoming the you, you want to be. Until later, Ciao
