I know it's been a couple of weeks since I've posted, but I've honestly not had that much opportunity to watch and review episodes. I am hoping that I will be able to resume the daily blog around the first of next week (and that I'll be able to watch multiple episodes to play catch up on where I should actually be...) Episode 1.14 "Gender Bender"
Aired January 21. 1994
R.I.P.: H. R. Giger (Swiss Artist, known for creating the Aliens aesthetic (WooHoo!!!). Died 5/12/14)
This was the picture that can be seen twice in the discotheque.
Start off by saying that this was the first episode where "Music by Mark Snow" appeared in the opening credits, until now it had been at the end of the closing credits.
Mulder and Scully go to Massachusetts to check out a murder that matches multiple others before hand. The victims are all Young, Healthy, adults that appear to have died of massive coronaries after intercourse. (bow chicka bow wow, I know I'm secretly 12, LoL) Mulder's explanation; pheromones, Scully is skeptical; surprise, surprise. Within the first 5 minutes of the episode we have a goof/error. The dead guy evidently is ticklish or something and can't keep from twitch/blinking his eyes when Mulder is examining the pink frothy stuff on the vic's mouth. (yeah that was gross when it was happening) And we also get another one of our beloved Chris Carter birthday shout-outs. The victim was seen entering the room at 10:13 with a female, but a male (not the vic) leaves later. Hmmm
After finding evidence of some rare mud, which is used to make pottery by a group called the Kindred, (a cult,sorry,) a sect of Mennonite/Amish?? that live in the wilderness of Massachusetts, Mulder and Scully go to investigate. (I'm having visions of Rumspringa gone wild...) They arrive at the town closest to the Kindred and ask questions. Mulder follows a larger group into the feed store as Scully stays outside with Brother Andrew. (Eep! She full on starts to get pheromone Jedi mind-tricked by him!) It is agreed that Mulder and Scully will locate their home. There's a scene where Mulder and Scully are using the map to try to find this remote location, they're lost-ish and Mulder wads the map up, kicks it, and Scully catches it. Coming from a continuity perspective, I want to know how many times they had to shoot that scene to get it that perfect!
The Kindred let Mulder and Scully visit their homes AFTER they give up their weapons, which they do (And this isn't the first time they've relinquished their guns. I've noticed that every time they do, they take the magazines out of the guns, they NEVER empty the chamber, that means technically they still have one shot in the guy folks!) Mulder and Scully have dinner with the Kindred and ask questions about their lifestyle and talk about the case. (Brother Andrew appears to know something, and has a thing for Scully) One of the elders has a coughing fit (I think you are supposed to assume he's about to die) and they lead Mulder and Scully back to the trail so they can leave. Mulder wants more answers so they sneak back and watch as the group heads into the barn...carrying what appears to be the body of the old guy. Part of the group leaves, and Mulder decides to sneak into the barn to explore further. Scully watches from what has to be the most horribly shot angle (cow utters, really?) and she is then taken by Brother Andrew, who takes her into his room, and reveals that he thinks his childhood friend Martin is to blame. (he'd fallen in love with the outside world, and that he was "different")
Mulder investigates the barn, follows the cellar down a creepy tunnel, watches at the men put what looks like lard on the dead guy, he has to hide, (again with the strange angles, the hole he jumps through to hide, looks like a vagina, which I guess makes sense if you consider they've lubed the dead guy up for rebirth...but still ick!) Mulder escapes back to rescue Scully who is still with Brother Andrew, and as Mulder puts it attempts to "do the wild-thing" with her. Mulder and Scully FINALLY leave.
Next scene is back at the discotheque and we see a young man...WAIT that's Nicholas Lea (aww he's so pretty, in case you don't know who I'm talking about he's Alex Krycek...he has also appeared on Arrow, Once Upon a Time and Supernatural! Only he's just some random soldier in this episode. According to IMDb, this will be his first of twenty four appearances, he's definitely a regular throughout the series) Sidetracked...He appears to be the newest victim. Yep definitely the newest victim as he and Marty (the name of the episode is Gender Bender.) are caught making out in the parking lot. Mulder and Scully question him and he reveals that he was with a woman, but after she hit the cop, it was a man (Martin). Mulder and Scully follow credit card information to a skeezy hotel, and we get to witness Marty again (she/he just killed someone else, so I'm guessing that sex triggers the change, but that would mean that there was a dead female somewhere as well?) and another dead male. First she knocks Scully out, Mulder follows her down the hall where she knocks him out. Scully, back on her feet, follows her out of the building. Next there are strange shadows on the walls and the Kindred have captured Marty/Martin/I'm confused, which one is it now? Brother Andrew is Jedi mind-tricking Scully and then Mulder and Scully are alone in the alley way.
Mulder and Scully go back to Massachusetts to look for the Kindred, but everything is gone, the barn is concreted? up. The cops come in to tell Mulder they've found something. Mulder and Scully go to the corn field to find a crop circle. So wait they were aliens all along? Now I'm having flashes of 3d Rock From the Sun, where Sally was actually a male in her body and Tommy was an old guy in Joseph Gordon Levitt's body. Was the Giger painting in the discotheque some sort of clue??? And to repeat my question from the Eve episode, why do aliens leave crop circles??? Do they have nothing better to do than play in fields? So many unanswered questions!

Episode 1.13 "Beyond the Sea"
Aired: January 7, 1994
What stuck out to me most about this episode was that Mulder was the more skeptical one and Scully took the leaps of faith. Despite everything she witnessed, however, she decided to believe logically. So it still ended up being another episode of Mulder trying to make Scully believe in the something else.
Episode starts out with Scully and her mom and dad finishing off Christmas celebration. (BTW, her dad, Don S. Davis was part of the reason I was addicted to SG-1, the other reason was obviously Corporal MacGuyver, LoL) We have our first Moby Dick reference (She calls him Ahab, he calls her Starbuck). Next scene, Scully is woken up by her father sitting, creepily, in her chair. He is talking to her, but no words are coming out of his mouth. Scully's mother calls and lets her know that her father has died. (Oh it's a feels episode!)
Mulder prepares to go to Raleigh NC, for a case. Two teens have disappeared a year after another couple had disappeared in a similar serial killer fashion. Mulder has been called in because there is an inmate (Lee Boggs) that claims to have knowledge of the case and will assist if Mulder comes and gets him a stay of execution. Mulder is surprised that Scully isn't taking the time off for bereavement. She jokes and makes one of our infamous porn references (something about an adult video store), lets Mulder know that the funeral is at noon, and that she will be going to NC with him.
Once in Raleigh, we meet Boggs (played by Brad Dourif, probably best known for his portrayal of Wormtongue in the Lord of the Rings series, but also known by me because he was the original Dark One, Zoso, before Rumpelstiltskin killed him and took the dagger in Once Upon a Time. I think it's his destiny to ALWAYS play a creepy meth addict looking mother fucker! This time is no exception) Boggs claims to have clairvoyance from the first time he went to the gas chamber and that he is in contact with the spirits that can help with the case. Mulder scoffs! (what? He even tells Boggs "I want to believe" and yet he fakes evidence to get Boggs to give information.) Meanwhile Scully (who's paying attention because she's seeing visions of her dead father and seeing signs that Boggs might have access to him) follows the clues Boggs gave and found real evidence of the abducted couple. Mulder believes that Boggs somehow is connected with the abductions. Not heeding Boggs's warnings, Mulder gets shot. Scully is able to lie to Boggs, get the information she needs and finds the bad guy, saves the couple and avoids death (Boggs tells her to not chase the devil, she sees the picture on the wall, literally, and the bad guy falls to his death which would have been her fate had she not listened.) Boggs promises to tell Scully what her father wanted her to know if she showed up to his execution, but is surprised when she isn't there. She is with Mulder in his hospital room, explaining to Mulder why Boggs was a fraud, and how he could have found the information that she had received from him. (she is too logically Spock-ish for her own good sometimes! Seriously sometimes it bothers me how she can witness something and still have an explanation for why it wasn't what she saw!)

Episode 1.12 "Fire"

This episode is probably my favorite that I've watched so far... Main reason?

Yes ladies and gentlemen, that's Mark Shepard, in one of his first roles (look how young he is!). He played Cecil L'Ively (aka Bob the Caretaker) Those of you who don't know who Shepard is, SHAME ON YOU!! Besides being the Ring Director in Chuck, and Canton Delaware in a couple of Doctor Who episodes, Shepard has been in DOZENS of things. His most current role, and yeah, my favorite, is Crowley on Supernatural! The first shot you have of him in this episode he's all young and has facial hair. And spoiler, I think that it's only fitting that the King of Hell's weirdo power is to set people on fire. (foreshadowing much?)
So the episode basically is about Mulder's Scotland Yard ex-lover (Phoebe Green, wonder if the Friends writers were fans? Yeah it was Phoebe Buffay and Rachel Green, but still...) needing Mulder's help on a case. (Bitch kisses my Mulder, multiple times in the episode! And yep there's some Scully jealously going on, you can read it a mile away, LoL) Back to the episode... 3 British politicians have spontaneously burst into flames, and she's afraid that the man she's working for will be next. (Evidently the hooker is kissing on him too. Which results in sad Mulder, but that's at the end of the scene, so OOPS, SPOILER)
Mulder tells Scully that he can handle this case on his own, not wanting to put Scully through Phoebe's torture. (She knew he was terrified of fire, yet came to him with the case because she's an evil bitch.) Scully decides to dig on her own and discovers some crucial evidence (Cecil L'Ively has been showing up in past and there's some sort of accelerant being used)
There's a scene where they are at an embassy event and Mulder and Phoebe are dancing (and kissing, I want to know what her dress straps are made of, they look like electrical tape!) Scully is watching them, and sees that the driver (L'Ively) is also watching them. There's a fire upstairs where the children (twin boys, eep!) are staying, and Mulder runs up to attempt to save them. Of course his phobia knocks him out, and he is carried down the stairs by the firemen. While L'Ively rescues the children. The best part about that scene? Mulder shirtless (man he's shirtless a bunch in the series so far) and Scully is taking care of him. Stupid bitch-face, Phoebe comes in and looks jealous.
Phoebe and the family decide that they need to return home to England, Scully finds out that L'Ively is the driver, and Mulder goes to check on Phoebe (here's where she's being overly friendly with the boss...) The family discovers the 1) usual driver is dead, burnt up in the bathroom, 2) Bob the caretaker is actually Cecil; and then, Mulder has to actually save the kids from yet another fire. As Cecil is running away he catches fire. Finally, last scene, despite having 5th & 6th degree burns, L'Ively is in a hypobaric chamber and expected to make a full recovery. The end. LoL

Episode 1.11 "Eve"

Once upon a time (and I've mentioned this multiple times throughout the years I've had any blogs) my brother told me that the song that made him think of me was Eve 6's "Inside Out". I'm not sure how I feel about that, I like the song well enough, but if you actually listen to the lyrics, I just wonder why they make him think of me. What does this have to do with anything? The band Eve 6 took their name from this episode of X-Files.
I vaguely remember when I watched this episode the 1st time, I thought that kids are creepy, I still feel that way. You know that if there are kids in horror films, there's going to be bad stuff. (Look at the Shining!) This episode was no exception!
The episode starts with a couple jogging, as they start to slow down they see a little girl standing in the driveway. They go ask her where her father is and find him dead on the swing set, 2 puncture wounds on the neck and drained of blood (Vampire? But it's daylight and this is years from Twilight and the Vampire Diaries...) As Mulder and Scully go to investigate, Mulder claims that the presence of Digitalis and the exsanguinated bodies are similar to the cattle mutilations he's seen with alien reports. Scully's retort cracked me up, "Mulder, Why would alien beings travel light years to Earth in order to play doctor on cattle?" (It cracked me up because I've always questioned why they come and create circles in the corn?) At the scene of the crime, Scully receives information that a similar murder (same MO, and technically takes place at the same exact moment) has taken place 3000 miles away on the other coast. They travel westward to investigate and discover that the daughter of this murder victim is IDENTICAL to the other little girl. During all of this someone kidnaps the girls.
As the episode progresses, through information given to Mulder by Deep Throat, (Welcome Back Jerry Hardin, this is your 4th of 11 visits, and we still haven't ever heard you referred to as this, when/why do we call him Deep Throat?) we learn that the Litchfield experiments created the Adams and Eves. There were 10 Eve's, they were basically crazy and suicidal (homicidal) The majority of the Eves were dead, 1 was locked up, and 2 were M.I.A. Mulder and Scully visit her, and she shows them a picture that looks like the girls they are working to find (creepy because they look like a YOUNG Linda Hamilton). She tells them that 2 others escaped years after she was locked up. One of the Eves they were looking for had worked with a clinic and had experimented to create more Eves, hence the girls.
The girls reveal to the Eve that has taken them that they have a mental link, and then kill her as Mulder and Scully arrive to rescue them. They tell Mulder and Scully that there were 2 Eves and that the other had planned on killing them all, but ran away when they heard the cops. As Mulder and Scully are taking the girls back to custody, they make a bathroom break and stop for sodas. Mulder finds traces of the Digitalis and viola, it really has been the girls all along. They capture the girls and lock them up with the Eve that was already at the institution. The remaining Eve comes to visit...

As Mulder and Scully go to investigate, Mulder claims that the presence of Digitalis and the exsanguinated bodies are similar to the cattle mutilations he's seen with alien reports. Scully's retort cracked me up, "Mulder, Why would alien beings travel light years to Earth in order to play doctor on cattle?" (It cracked me up because I've always questioned why they come and create circles in the corn?) At the scene of the crime, Scully receives information that a similar murder (same MO, and technically takes place at the same exact moment) has taken place 3000 miles away on the other coast. They travel westward to investigate and discover that the daughter of this murder victim is IDENTICAL to the other little girl. During all of this someone kidnaps the girls.
As the episode progresses, through information given to Mulder by Deep Throat, (Welcome Back Jerry Hardin, this is your 4th of 11 visits, and we still haven't ever heard you referred to as this, when/why do we call him Deep Throat?) we learn that the Litchfield experiments created the Adams and Eves. There were 10 Eve's, they were basically crazy and suicidal (homicidal) The majority of the Eves were dead, 1 was locked up, and 2 were M.I.A. Mulder and Scully visit her, and she shows them a picture that looks like the girls they are working to find (creepy because they look like a YOUNG Linda Hamilton). She tells them that 2 others escaped years after she was locked up. One of the Eves they were looking for had worked with a clinic and had experimented to create more Eves, hence the girls.
The girls reveal to the Eve that has taken them that they have a mental link, and then kill her as Mulder and Scully arrive to rescue them. They tell Mulder and Scully that there were 2 Eves and that the other had planned on killing them all, but ran away when they heard the cops. As Mulder and Scully are taking the girls back to custody, they make a bathroom break and stop for sodas. Mulder finds traces of the Digitalis and viola, it really has been the girls all along. They capture the girls and lock them up with the Eve that was already at the institution. The remaining Eve comes to visit...

Episode 1.10 "Fallen Angel"
Well it took longer than an hour to get here, but...
Aired: November 19, 1993
This episode was back to the government conspiracy theme. It starts off with a UFO(?) crash and a quarentine. Deep Throat is back, this time giving Mulder inside information. D.T. tells Mulder about the crash and that they are looking for something that escaped the craft.
Mulder travels, alone, to Wisconsin to investigate, sneaks onto the crash site, and is captured by Army guys with guns. My favorite quote from this episode happens when the Army guys are interrogating Mulder, and telling him there was a toxic spill. Mulder in his infinite snarkiness, says "That's a lot of fire power to protect Mother Nature" The Army guy locks Mulder up and we meet Max Fenig, (NICAP alien/conspiracy hunter, fan of Fox Mulder... Played by Scott Bellis, this is his 1st of 3 episodes as Max, but the last episode that we see him for 4 years.) and he gives us the most infamous line of the SERIES "Trust No one!"
Scully shows up to "bail" Mulder out, and lets him know that there will be a hearing to shut down the X-Files, that they need to return home immediately. After this we get the first glimpse of the escaped pilot of the crashed UFO/whatever it is supposed to be; it reminded me of the cloaked Predators from the Predator movies.
Next scene is more about Max, who plays Mulder and Scully the transmission of the distress call from the crash scene. Scully discovers that Max is on anti-psychotic/seizure drugs. Mulder and Scully go talk to the firefighter's wife and she tells them she can't talk to them because they will withhold her husbands pension and she needs it for their son. They then go to talk to the doctor who was in charge the night of the crash and discovered that he had been threatened as well. During this time the Army guys attempt to catch the pilot and several get burned/die. They are taken to the hospital and the doctor tells the Army guy that he needs Scully's assistance. Mulder returns to motel and finds Max having a seizure, he reveals that he's had epilepsy since he was 10. During this scene Mulder finds a scar behind Max's RIGHT ear, but later when giving his report to Scully, he says that it was on Max's Left ear... Mulder explains to Scully that this scar is a sign that Max had been abducted.
Mulder follows/finds Max in a warehouse and Max begs Mulder not to let "them take him." Scully is outside with the Army guys who have tracked Max and the escaped pilot to the warehouse. Max screams, Mulder is tossed aside, Mulder wakes to find Max suspended midair, bright light, Max is gone. (sad!)
Next scene we're back in DC and Scully is being interviewed by the committee that wants to shut down the X-Files project. During Mulder's investigation scene, he is told that the Army guys found Max 2 hours later, and that he was dead (LIES! as I already said, we will see Max again in 1997...)
The committee decides to shut down the X-Files, but the decision is overturned by Deep Throat...(What position does he hold? I have completely forgotten how badass he was...)

This episode mostly made me remember that I witnessed the Challenger explosion. I was in 6th grade, and my grandparents were visiting from New Hampshire, my mother had let me stay home from school because they were in, and my grandmother and I were sitting on the sofa watching (along with the rest of the world) as the shuttle launched, and then exploded... Much later the blame boiled down to a faulty O-ring, this episode mentions that.
"Space" starts out with an interview as the NASA mission has found water on Mars and what appears to be a facial structure. Then goes to the shuttle launch, which is aborted 3 seconds before lift-off.
Mulder and Scully go to Huston after NASA worker, Michelle Generoo (Hey, I know who she is...that's Moira Queen from Arrow, AKA Susanna Thompson also known for being Army Lt. Col. Hollis Mann on NCIS and the Borg Queen on Star Trek Voyager..wow, I'm a nerd.) shows them evidence that the space shuttle might have been sabotaged. She wishes to stop the relaunch because her husband will be aboard the shuttle, and she is afraid for him. (Challenger aborted launch, then rescheduled days later... Not liking where this episode is going at the moment.)
Mulder gets to meet General M.A. Belt (one of Mulder's childhood heroes), an astronaut from the Gemini flight, that had trouble when he was out in space years before. There's a couple of hokey "creepy" face overlays that makes you wonder if it's a ghost or some non-corporal alien, there's more issues with the shuttle and telemetry. And in the end, it is implied that General Belt (unknowingly) might have been responsible of the sabotage. (In the end he commits suicide/was murdered by the space entity.)
If you've seen the movie SpaceCamp (it's from 1986, and is about a group of kids at space camp that accidentally get launched into space on the shuttle and have to make it home. The film came out shortly (6 months) after the Challenger exploded, and I remember thinking, this hits too close to home) then you understand the flight crews reactions and also cheer when things go correctly. I fully admit, I cheered along with them when Michelle's husband, David, FINALLY answers and jokingly asks if she knows of a good place to eat in Albuquerque.
That was pretty much all for this one. You could easily re-watch Challenger footage and the SpaceCamp movie and experience the same amount to anxiety that this episode gives you.
Now to try to stay on track and watch Fallen Angel. Back in a little bit. xoxo

Episode 1.8 "Ice"
Aired: November 5, 1993
Honestly if you have seen John Carpenter's Thing, (the original is the best. I recently found out that the "remake" isn't actually a remake at all, but a sequel. When I was under the impression that the new version was a remake, I was pissed., but honestly after watching them both in sequence, they did a nice job.) you've got the jist of this episode. So knowing that, the whole episode was pretty predictable.
An Arctic Ice Core project drills the deepest core sample and unearths an ancient micro-organism (alien). Somehow it infects the team, and the workers go crazy and kill each other. The episode did at least start with some eye-candy, one of the original workers (he's shirtless and has a NICE body. I don't even mind the fact that he's a little bloody...) is sending a video transmission, letting viewers know that "we're not who we are, it goes not further than this..." and then he's attacked. (I just realized he's shirtless in this scene for the transmission, but when Mulder is watching the transmission, the worker is wearing a shirt...hmm) After he frees himself from the attacker, he and an equally eye-pleasing guy (casting was on fire this episode, because later we get a shirtless Mulder) are at a stand off, where they decide it's best to commit a double suicide than risk what ever caused their team to go crazy to be released into the world.
Mulder and Scully go to Alaska to investigate with a scientist and a couple of doctors (and a pilot, who looks like a neanderthal version of Steven Tyler, named Bear). Mulder and the pilot are attacked by a dog, spoiler the pilot is infected, Mulder apparently is not. Eww, there's a movement in the back of Bear's neck (makes me think of the black oil stuff later on in the series). The doctors and Scully end up killing Bear taking the tapeworm looking thing out of him. (The face Scully makes is comical and makes you wonder how she's supposed to be a medical examiner) The group decides it's best to get some rest, but also agree that they need to make sure no one else is infected at the time. (Am I the only one that got a lesbian vibe from Scully and the female doctor during their examination? I know it was a we're relieved kinda thing but it was still questionable) The group then settles in for the night. Scully barricades herself in her room. Mulder hears a door and goes to investigate, where finds the geeky scientist dead, naturally the rest of the group assumes he did it, so they lock him up.
While Mulder is locked up the doctors and Scully discover that if you infect the already infected blood, it kills the organism. Yay, they save the dog. They conclude the only way to cure Mulder is to put the wormy looking thing in him. Scully goes in to the room where they are keeping Mulder to tell him the plan. He tells her he would have let her check him, but she'd pulled the gun on him and he didn't trust the others. She inspects him and finds that he hasn't been infected the entire time. (Kinda of a sexy moment between them as he grabs her to check the back of her neck, budding sexual tension between the duo? LoL) Now the question is, who is the infected person. Ends up being the other female. Mulder and Scully pin her down, and the male doctor is able get the wormy thing into her system, which essentially kills both organisms. We end with the evac picking them up and quarantining the female and the dog. Mulder states he's going to go back, but will be prepared this time, only to be informed that they had already burned the place to the ground.

Episode 1.7 "Ghost in the Machine"
Aired: October 29, 1993.
The episode starts off with 2 men (One corporate looking the other a bit "scruffier") arguing about computer stuff, and the one storms out visibly upset. The corporate man is about to leave for the evening when he discovers that the sink is overflowing in his bathroom (Two things that I questioned, 1st WHO has a phone right beside their sink? and 2nd WHO has the need for a swipe card to get out of their bathroom??) as he is trying to unclog the sink, the phone rings, next he tries to leave but the swipe card won't grant him access. He is then electrocuted, being blown back into the mirror. (When we get to the crime scene, scene, there's one of those comical tape outlines that you ONLY see on screen.)
We then get to meet Mulder's old partner (pre-X-files), Agent Jerry Lamana, who asks for Mulder's assistance on the case. After checking on things at the Eurisko company, Mulder suspects Brad Wilczek (the scruffy hacker guy). Lamana steals Mulder's profile, claiming he needs a win. (He screwed up in the past and was punished so he thinks that solving this case will help him out.) Mulder enlists the help of Deep Throat (welcome back Jerry Hardin), and Jerry goes to the Eurisko company to search for more clues, and to follow Wilczek, The very Hal/2001: Space Odyssey sounding Central Operating System murders him in front of Brad. (I'm having a bad Terminator, Rise of the Machines, kinda vibe coming from this episode. Smart Houses might be my new phobia, in all the shows I've ever seen them mentioned (Eureka's Sarah, and even some of the technology in Doctor Who) something bad happens. ALMOST makes me wanna go anti-technology, ALMOST) Mulder learns that Wilczek created the thinking computer and the Defense Department wants his technology.
Now convinced that Wilczek is innocent and the Adaptive Network (COS) has gone murderous, Mulder talks Wilczek into creating a virus to destroy the system. He then attempts to sneak into Eurisko on his own, meanwhile however, Scully's computer/internet starts on it's own and she traces a call to the company. So she meets Mulder, where they break in to upload a virus. Taking precautions to not end up like the first dead guy and Jerry, Mulder and Scully climb 29 flights of stairs, fry the door sensor and cover the surveillance camera. But apparently the door is still locked, so Mulder helps Scully into the duct work to crawl over and be able to unlock the door from the other side. While she is in the duct work, the Security guy opens the door to let Mulder into the lab. Then pulls a gun on Mulder, revealing that he's actually part of the Defense Department. It bothers me that Mulder didn't check on Scully, who was probably wishing she was Tooms crammed into the airway, and let her know he had gotten the door open. (Guess we needed the scene of Scully being blown backwards towards the fan that would kill her had she not fired her gun, for the first time ever, at it. At some point, she is able to somehow free herself and ambush the Security/Defense guy. I suppose had he called to her then Bad Guy wouldn't have been so easy to get the drop on.) Mulder uploads the virus and that's the end of the COS...or is it?
Seriously that's how it ended: the Defense guy is looking at the camera, telling his team they only have 6 hours until they have to scrap the computer and then the red light ("of death", sorry family thing...) comes on and the screen goes to ending credits.
My little project is now over a week old and I'm starting to realize that a daily blog probably was CRAZY, but I'm enjoying the X-Files revisit, so until tomorrow. xoxo

Episode 1.6 "Shadows"
One to-day is worth two to-morrows -- Ben Franklin
Originally airing on October 22, 1993. Another "monster/paranormal" episode, and now we're starting to get back to the episodes, I remember falling in love with.
This one starts out with a woman crying (she looks familiar, I need to remember to IMDb her...) as she's cleaning out an office, we learn that this is Lauren Kyte and the office belonged to Howard Graves, her late boss. He was a Defense Department Contractor at HTG Industrial Technologies, and he had evidently committed suicide a couple of weeks prior. Later, we see Lauren taking money out of an ATM, and is then attacked by two men.
Next scene is Mulder and Scully in an autopsy room checking out the bodies of the men that had attacked Lauren, and two other secret government agents (more like pod people, absolutely no emotion!!! The female looks like a ridged Mindy Kaling) We discover that the 2 men were terrorists and that while they are dead, their throats and larynges were crushed from the inside, they still had "residual electrostatic charge" Mulder suspects an X-File, (more specifically telekinesis, "how Carrie got even at the prom?") but "willfully participated in a campaign of misinformation" with the other agents.
Scully and Mulder find evidence, from the ATM surveillance, that Lauren (man, who is she, she looks familiar) may have been involved with the dead terrorists, and that there might have been one more person involved. They go to question her at her house. (Hey, that's the same house that was the detective lived in, in Squeeze) Lauren denies knowing the terrorists, but after being pressed, admits that she had gotten away and ran. Not wanting to cause trouble, she didn't file a report. She claims that she doesn't recognize the other figure in the photo. As Mulder and Scully leave the car turns into Christine and tries to kill them. (Did I miss something, did King have something to do with this episode? LoL)
In the process of staking Lauren out, Mulder and Scully see her get upset when maintenance tries to paint over Graves' parking space (LMFAO, the name of the person they are replacing him with...Tom Braidwood! For those who don't know, he will be Frohike, and at this time one of the Assistant Directors of the series.) Lauren goes to see the other boss, to put in her two weeks notice (I think I had that ugly flowery dress she's wearing...) and we have a continuity Oops, the other secretary spills her coffee, Lauren pulls several tissues out of the box, crosses around to help clean up the spill and the box of tissues is no longer on the desk. The other boss comes out to check what the commotion was and Lauren tells him she's leaving. He then gets creepy and attacks her, THEN something attacks him.
After investigating some more, Mulder is able to identify the man in the photo as Graves, as a consequence, Scully is convinced that he has faked his death. Lauren however is given a vision, which reveals that Howard was actually murdered. Turns out, the other boss knew of terrorist activity with the company and had Howard killed because he was going to go public with the information. (That's where the other uptight agents come into play)
Another (yeah the terrorists had been sent to take her out) attempt on Lauren's life, gives us Mulder rushing in to save the damsel in distress, where he witnesses the attacker suspended midair, being choked. Scully FINALLY arrives (she's always just a little late...) Lauren tells the agents what they need to search HTG Industrial Technologies, unfortunately they don't find anything, until Mulder, Lauren, and the other boss (I probably should have written down his name) are alone in his office, with the help of Howard they find a floppy disc that has the information they were looking for. Again, Scully shows up seconds late and misses the tiny tornado and flying letter opener.
The final scene is Lauren working in an office in the mid-west. Vibrations cause a coffee cup to shake after Lauren is reprimanded for taking 25 minutes to get a report done. The other woman covers the coffee and comments that every time a truck drives by that occurs, but we are left to wonder if perhaps Lauren's guardian angel is still with her.

Oh well, IMDb, says that Lauren is Lisa Waltz, and with the exception of single roles in multiple shows I have watched throughout the years, there's nothing that stands out as "She's this person.." Maybe it is just that she has had so many bit parts in those shows, but she looks so familiar. Also according to IMDb the bad guy, boss's name was Robert Dorlund. (played by Barry Primus) I love IMDb!!!

Originally airing on October 22, 1993. Another "monster/paranormal" episode, and now we're starting to get back to the episodes, I remember falling in love with.
This one starts out with a woman crying (she looks familiar, I need to remember to IMDb her...) as she's cleaning out an office, we learn that this is Lauren Kyte and the office belonged to Howard Graves, her late boss. He was a Defense Department Contractor at HTG Industrial Technologies, and he had evidently committed suicide a couple of weeks prior. Later, we see Lauren taking money out of an ATM, and is then attacked by two men.
Next scene is Mulder and Scully in an autopsy room checking out the bodies of the men that had attacked Lauren, and two other secret government agents (more like pod people, absolutely no emotion!!! The female looks like a ridged Mindy Kaling) We discover that the 2 men were terrorists and that while they are dead, their throats and larynges were crushed from the inside, they still had "residual electrostatic charge" Mulder suspects an X-File, (more specifically telekinesis, "how Carrie got even at the prom?") but "willfully participated in a campaign of misinformation" with the other agents.

Episode 1.5 "Jersey Devil"
Originally Aired October 8, 1993. So far the monster episodes aren't wowing me like I remember. (They are partly to blame for my love of Supernatural's earlier seasons!) Something I did notice is that the shows I watch currently use multiple actors from throughout the series. This episode alone had 2 actors that had both had parts on Supernatural and Once Upon a Time.
This episode is pretty much what the title implies, it's about the Jersey Devil, only not the version of the one I remember growing up with. (Part human, part Devil. This one was more Caveman/Big Foot) It starts out with a family out in the woods of New Jersey running over something, it ends up being a male. Mulder talks Scully into a trip to Atlantic City, where we learn that the local PD aren't wanting to help because they know there is something out there, but fear tourism will drop if it becomes known.
Honestly that's about it for the episode, Mulder sleeps out in the streets like a homeless person, and gets locked up because he didn't leave when the local sheriff told him to, and Scully goes on a date. She then goes to bail Mulder out/pick him up from jail, they go investigate and find a "hot" cave woman. The local PD shoot and kill her. Mulder suspects that there was offspring. The last scene is a father and son walking in the woods, father telling the boy about the Jersey Devil legend, as the camera closes in on a small wild child.
Besides seeing familiar faces from new shows, the only thing of note with this episode is that it's the first hint of Mulder's porn addiction. (He's "reading" a Hanky Panky article when Scully first sees him in the episode.) Until tomorrow, ciao. xoxo

Episode 1.4 "Conduit"
Originally aired October 1, 1993
The episode starts off with a family camping (young boy and older teen-girl asleep, outside under the stars, and mother in camper) by a lake in the woods, there's an earthquake(?) that knocks the mother off of her bunk in the camper, a bright light, followed by the little boy calling out for his mom to come out of the camper because his sister is missing (Little boy alone, while sister is abducted... Samantha-centric episode alert!). We next see Scully talking with Section Chief Blevins (this is his 2nd appearance of 5 in the series) where we find that Mulder has requested to go to Sioux City to investigate Ruby Morris' disappearance. His linking factor was that the mother was also an alien abductee from years before.
Upon investigation, Mulder learns that the little brother, Kevin, hears sounds from the T.V. (Kids and white staticy T.V.s, this episode just got Poltergeist creepy!) that he writes down, to Mulder it appears just to be 1s and 0s. The NSA becomes incredibly interested in the binary drawings, breaking into Scully's motel room at night and talking to a shirtless Mulder (thank you!!!) about the origin of the papers; claiming that they are classified documents. We learn later they are really just snippets of things like DaVinci's Vitruvian Man drawing, DNA, and segments of Brandenburg's Concerto. (hmm, aren't these things that we've sent up to space in case there really is something out there? Maybe she says that in this episode and I missed it, but I don't think it was mentioned. I think there's several references throughout media these days, Doctor Who, and Mars Attack just to name a couple that talk about it though) Mulder and Scully receive a tip that Ruby was going to run off with her boyfriend because she was pregnant, they go to a biker bar to find the boyfriend. (The bartender is Ogre from Revenge of the Nerds), there they learn the boyfriend hasn't showed up for a couple of days.
Summing up the end, the informant was actually the pregnant one, she killed the boyfriend and buried him in the woods, but revealed that Ruby wasn't even there when she was following them. The binary code when placed on the ground showed a picture of Ruby's face. Mulder and Scully go back to the lake to find the Morris' including Ruby. The last scene is Scully listening to Mulder's tapes about Samantha, where we have the 1st occasion of him saying "I want to believe."

Episode 1.3 "Squeeze"
Originally airing on September 24, 1993, Eugene Victor Tooms would be the first of the Monster, (not Alien) of the week episodes of the X-Files. (Kinda a nice change of pace from the Government Conspiracy that we will grow to love...) It's been a really long time since I've watched this particular episode, I remember Tooms kinda grossing me out. So here goes...
2 hours later, finally finished watching it, got busy and distracted. Not my favorite episode.
The episode starts off with a well dressed man walking back to work. Creepy shot of the sewer drain, and yellowish eyes. (Maybe it's just me, but after King's IT, I have a major phobia of those kinds of drains. Nothing good ever comes from them.) The man makes a phone call home saying he's going to be late, but instead he becomes our 1st victim. Suicide or X-File? The doors and windows were locked from the inside, and the only other opening was an air vent that was less than 12 inches wide. But the guy's liver was missing. (Ick! For those who don't know me, one of the Urban Legends that really bothers me is the Kidney Thief. The other is Human's Lick Too, but that's beside the point....The Kidney Thief is where the person is out partying and wakes up the next morning in a bath of ice, with a note saying that the kidneys are gone. Not sure why it bothers me so much, but it does. And at this point, I was waiting for Kidney/Liver Thief)
Next scene we have Scully chatting with an old classmate (Colton) over lunch. (Something that struck me, during their conversation, they are talking about another classmate "J Edgar Jr" and how he "locked down another World Trade Center bombing." 1993!) Scully agrees to go to Baltimore to help with the Colton's case. Of course Mulder has linked this current murder to several that had happened 60+ years before. (Okay, now it is looking like maybe it's a Mutant version of Hannibal Lector that is REALLY old, Fava beans anyone?) Colton let's Mulder know about the missing liver and snidely asks if it sounded like the works of little green men. Mulder's response was classic, telling him, a Reticulian's skin tone is gray. "They're notorious for their extraction of terrestrial human livers, due to iron depletion in the Reticulum galaxy... Do you know how much liver and onions go for on Reticulum?" Mulder also discovers some really elongated fingerprints on the air vent. Scully profiles and then catches Tooms (look Sunflower seeds, and fashion/jackets so large that the fat lady has called and asked for them back.), only he passes his poly test and the idiot Colton releases him.
Tooms follows his next victim home, then contorts and shimmies down the chimney. Oops, continuity error (sometimes it's a problem that I do continuity for the community college's summer films, it makes me see errors everywhere.), the victim has gone to the fireplace to light the fire. The match bucket is next to the fireplace on the floor. Next shot, the man looking at a glass piece on the mantle, the guy then turns around to the coffee table and grabs a match from the bucket, (which is no longer on the floor) and lights the fire. Tooms kills him. Next Colton's team is investigating the murder when Mulder and Scully come on scene to check for clues. Mulder notices the elongated finger print and the missing glass piece. After doing some research and discovering that Tooms' home isn't really where he lives, Mulder and Scully go talk to the original detective from 30 years prior. He shows them pictures of the suspect he had 30 years earlier, Tooms, and he's not aged at all. At that point, Mulder and Scully go investigate Tooms' home from the address the other detective gave them. We find a derelict building that, shock, one of the earlier victims had lived in. Mulder locates a hole in the wall, where upon investigation reveals a bile encrusted nest. (YUCK! and a humorous encounter where Mulder asks if there was a quick way to get the bile off his hand without "betraying his cool exterior"... the taken treasures from the past victims are there as well.) Next a shot of Tooms hanging from the ceiling holding Dana's necklace.
Mulder leaves his stakeout position to some other agents, next we have Scully talking to Colton, and he tells her he's called off the stakeout, to go home. Scully tries calling Mulder but gets no answer, Mulder not having been informed that the stakeout was called off, goes back to find the agents have left. He goes into Tooms' building to find Scully's necklace in the collection of treasures. Scully is home, getting ready for a bath when Tooms breaks in and tries to make her his next victim. Mulder busts in, saves Scully and Tooms is locked up. Mulder and Scully look in at Tooms as he is taking newspaper strips and making a new nest in the hospital. The last scene is a sinister shot of Tooms in the mental hospital staring at the tiny slot that the orderlies put the food tray through. (Which only implies that we aren't through with Eugene Victor Tooms, course we knew that because Season 1, Episode 20 is named Tooms)
I did write down a line that I thought was funny, but now I'm not sure where it was in the episode..."What is this the Anti-Waltons?" I'm not sure why it struck me funny, but it did. Episode 1.2 "Deep Throat"
Airing September 17, 1993, Deep Throat was our official "Hey there's a government conspiracy going on here" episode (yeah the pilot hinted with CSM and the metal implant, but until this episode that could have just been coincidence). It's also our first episode with theme music. (Ah Snow, thank you for your eerie music, that I'm pretty sure gave me nightmares at the time.)
The episode starts out with a team swarming a house, that we learn belongs to Col. Robert Budahas (that's a fun name to say), and that he has pretty much gone bonkers... Mulder gets a call from Scully, discovers that his phone is being tapped, meets her at a bar, where he then is introduced to a mysterious informant (the illustrious Deep Throat, played by Jerry Hardin, who makes 11 appearances as Mulder's tipster) that warns Mulder to leave the alien talk/X-Files alone. (Random...why do public bathrooms that have multiple stalls like that, have locks for the door?)
Mulder and Scully go to Idaho to investigate the mental breakdown and disappearances of Budahas and learn that he isn't the only test pilot to have been affected. Something strange is happening at the Ellen's Air Force Base (which BTW wasn't on Scully's government map, hmm...) Budahas is returned, but his wife is convinced that it really isn't her husband. Here we also get the Scully is super skeptical and tries explaining Budahas' breakdown as having legit medical reasons and that he possibly was a "wash-out" on some secret project. Which Mulder points out, that while the pilot probably wasn't driving a UFO, it was probably made out of parts of one, that alien technology could have been used, siting that Ellen's Air Base is where parts of a crashed UFO were sent back in the 50's
During the time Mulder is scoping out Ellen's, we have an "oops, continuity error" that happens. Scully is asleep in the car, something flies over, causing the rear window to shatter. Mulder goes to Scully, and they go to investigate, strange flying lights are seen, and then, 2 people are running/being chased away from the base. (Ah, young Seth Green with his long hair! I adore him! He is the first member of the "Harem House") Mulder and Scully take the couple out to eat and discuss what they saw, then in the morning they drop Seth and his girl at home, the window is no longer smashed! (Sorry sidetracked when it comes to Seth...) Mulder is now convinced that it's alien and Scully is positive that there's another explanation. After telling Scully that he's ready to leave, Mulder sneaks back onto the base only to be taken and drugged (possibly experimented on?) The next morning, Air base security, who posed as a reporter earlier, attempts to attack Scully, only she takes his gun and forces him to get Mulder back for her, who can't remember how he got to where he was. Meanwhile Mrs. Budahas changes her story that her husband is better now. (Mulder speculates that the government got to her...)
We end the episode with Scully typing out her report, basically saying that there weren't any conclusive answers, and Mulder, after running laps, being visited by the informant again (When do we start calling him Deep Throat?) who confirms that "Mr Mulder, THEY'VE been here for a Long, Long time"
That's pretty much it for the Deep Throat episode. Something I did notice was the Chris Carter references throughout the episode. While Scully is reading the microfiche, the author's name on the article she's reading is C. Carter. She also investigates a license plate number CC1356, which Chris Carter's birthday is October 13, 1956 so c.c.13/56. The episode starts out with a team swarming a house, that we learn belongs to Col. Robert Budahas (that's a fun name to say), and that he has pretty much gone bonkers... Mulder gets a call from Scully, discovers that his phone is being tapped, meets her at a bar, where he then is introduced to a mysterious informant (the illustrious Deep Throat, played by Jerry Hardin, who makes 11 appearances as Mulder's tipster) that warns Mulder to leave the alien talk/X-Files alone. (Random...why do public bathrooms that have multiple stalls like that, have locks for the door?)
Mulder and Scully go to Idaho to investigate the mental breakdown and disappearances of Budahas and learn that he isn't the only test pilot to have been affected. Something strange is happening at the Ellen's Air Force Base (which BTW wasn't on Scully's government map, hmm...) Budahas is returned, but his wife is convinced that it really isn't her husband. Here we also get the Scully is super skeptical and tries explaining Budahas' breakdown as having legit medical reasons and that he possibly was a "wash-out" on some secret project. Which Mulder points out, that while the pilot probably wasn't driving a UFO, it was probably made out of parts of one, that alien technology could have been used, siting that Ellen's Air Base is where parts of a crashed UFO were sent back in the 50's
During the time Mulder is scoping out Ellen's, we have an "oops, continuity error" that happens. Scully is asleep in the car, something flies over, causing the rear window to shatter. Mulder goes to Scully, and they go to investigate, strange flying lights are seen, and then, 2 people are running/being chased away from the base. (Ah, young Seth Green with his long hair! I adore him! He is the first member of the "Harem House") Mulder and Scully take the couple out to eat and discuss what they saw, then in the morning they drop Seth and his girl at home, the window is no longer smashed! (Sorry sidetracked when it comes to Seth...) Mulder is now convinced that it's alien and Scully is positive that there's another explanation. After telling Scully that he's ready to leave, Mulder sneaks back onto the base only to be taken and drugged (possibly experimented on?) The next morning, Air base security, who posed as a reporter earlier, attempts to attack Scully, only she takes his gun and forces him to get Mulder back for her, who can't remember how he got to where he was. Meanwhile Mrs. Budahas changes her story that her husband is better now. (Mulder speculates that the government got to her...)
We end the episode with Scully typing out her report, basically saying that there weren't any conclusive answers, and Mulder, after running laps, being visited by the informant again (When do we start calling him Deep Throat?) who confirms that "Mr Mulder, THEY'VE been here for a Long, Long time"
That's pretty much it for the Deep Throat episode. Something I did notice was the Chris Carter references throughout the episode. While Scully is reading the microfiche, the author's name on the article she's reading is C. Carter. She also investigates a license plate number CC1356, which Chris Carter's birthday is October 13, 1956 so c.c.13/56. And later in her report she lists the case file as DF101364, so another 10/13 reference... If I remember correctly we see the 10/13/56 reference made a few more times throughout the series. Pilot
Created by Chris Carter, The X-Files ran from 1993 until 2002. There were 9 seasons, 202 episodes, 2 movies (just read that they are talking about a 3rd movie!!!!!), and inspired the spin-off The Lone Gunmen and numerous comic books.
The Pilot episode of the X-Files aired, Friday September 10, 1993. It starred Gillian Anderson (virtually an unknown at the time) and David Duchovny (who had just completed his role on Twin Peaks and was starring in a show called The Red Shoe Diaries, could this have been the precursor for Mulder's porn addiction??) As with most pilots, the infamous theme song was nowhere to be found, but Mark Snow was already hard at work creating it.
The episode starts with a dead girl in the woods, then cuts to a room of older men (wow, I had forgotten that the Cigarette Smoking man was actually in this episode), and introduces FBI agent, Dana Scully, (Is it just me or did she look like she was auditioning for the role of Clarice Starling from Silence of the Lambs? Only 2 years late, and what was up with her clothes? Her jacket looks like she had lost about 200 lbs and hadn't bought new clothes yet...) a skeptical, medical examiner being assigned to work with Fox "Spooky" Mulder (who we learn earned the nickname Spooky because of his paranormal beliefs) in order to debunk his pet project, the X-Files. Mulder's snark is first experienced through a closed door. "Sorry nobody down here but the FBI's most unwanted." (Yep, I'm in love!)
Their first case is to travel to Oregon to investigate the aforementioned dead girl and a couple of other previous murders that were of a suspicious nature. Once in Oregon, we get the first hint of supernatural forces when we experience a cheesy green flash, the car loosing power, and the loss of 9 minutes. We also get the first shots of Mulder eating his ever present sunflower seeds. The teams discover that the dead girl had some sort of metal implant up her nose, and had 2 spots on her lower hip. ("mysterious puncture wounds", which Mulder explains has happened multiple times, and that's how he knew it was possibly an alien abduction) They exhume another body who's death was similar, only to find that it wasn't a human body. ALIEN? No, Scully likens it to an orangutang. Hmmm, I smell conspiracy... It is shortly after this discovery that we are introduced to a couple of characters that will eventually show back up in the X-Files universe: Theresa Newman, the town's medical examiner's daughter (Sarah Koskoff comes back 2 more times in the show) and Billy Miles, the sheriff's son, a "veggie" in a coma (Zachary Ansley has a total of 5 appearances as Miles)
Being threatened in the woods by the sherriff, strange dirt, a mosquito/implant scare, another loss of time, and a power outage (I'm always fascinated with motel/hotels in TV shows, Supernatural has the BEST, but in this episode both Scully and Mulder end up with candles after the power goes out, where did they come from? What motel supplies candles?) leads to a nice interaction between Mulder and Scully where we learn the reasons behind Mulder's obsession with aliens; Dr. Heitz Werber (Jim Jensen, squee...showing my uber-geekiness, he's Rev. Archie Skinner on Gilmore Girls. And will make another 2 appearances in the series) has helped Mulder remember that his sister, Samantha was "abducted" when he was a child. (I know that we have several Samantha centric episodes, but did we ever learn what really happened to her?) There is a call from Theresa, who is scared that she's next after Peggy O'Dell, a paraplegic who was with Billy at the hospital, is found dead in the street. (She had walked out of the woods) Now back to the motel, which is on fire, and the loss of all of their research... This leads the team to believe that Billy is somehow behind the deaths, SPOILER, he kinda is. Showing my twisted-ness, one of the best lines in the episode comes when they are back at the hospital, investigating Billy, and Mulder asks the nurse if she noticed Billy was gone the night before. Her response was that it wasn't her ward, "not my aisle of the produce section" soon after, Scully finds more of the mysterious dirt on Billy's feet. Later, back in the woods, Billy has Theresa in his arms, there are bright lights, and then Billy wakes up from his coma, he and Theresa are unharmed. Billy later reveals that they were abducted years before and the implant in his nose gave him the orders to bring the others to the woods. Sadly the files from that revelation had disappeared.
Back in DC, Scully is again in front of the room of men, where she gives her report, and reveals that she had had the implant in her pocket when the motel burned down. Concluding that "Mulder believes we are not alone" The last shot is of CSM carrying the implant into a hidden Pentagon location, showing that there are already 4 other implants in their possession and 1 more empty slot. And if I remember correctly, and will eventually get to, this comes into play later in the series. (it's been a while since I've watched most of the episodes)

Pre-Pilot
I'm going to say again, that I'm doing this blog for a couple of reasons. One is because a friend of mine is also doing a daily X-Files blog, but they haven't made a post in a couple of months. The other is because Em is insistent that I do it.
So here goes...
Like my friend Scott's wife, A.R., I grew up with the strong Sci-Fi female roles. Ripley from Alien(s) is one of the most bad-ass characters ever! (for those of you who don't know me, Aliens is my all-time favorite movie, and my ideal man is a mixture of Han Solo, Corporal Hicks and Westley, the Dread Pirate Roberts) Add in my love for the Star Star Trek Wars; Uhura and Leia Organa complete the trifecta of my role models growing up. (Obviously, I'm talking fictitious only, as I have plenty of real female inspirations on my list.)
Where am I going with this you ask? X-Files had one major leg up on other shows that season, their lead female was named Dana. She was the first female named Dana on a show that I'd ever seen, and that made my heart happy. Until then the only other FAMOUS Dana's that I knew of were Dana Elcar (MacGuyver's Pete Thornton) and Dana Carvey, (unless you count the Church Lady, both were definitely men. And female, Dana Delany was still sort of a bit player) So, Dana Scully became one of the firsts in my "harem house" females. (maybe some day I'll explain that...some day.) When you think about it, I was already obsessed with Space and Aliens, and other scifi/fantasy-esque topics, so a show that asked the question, "Are we alone in the universe?" was obviously going to appeal to me. Add in the Hot David Duchovny and the girl named Dana, the X-Files quickly became one of my favorite shows.
That's about the gist of my reasons for loving the show, and the motive for the blog. Without further ado, the next post will be my thoughts and feelings of the Pilot episode. Until then...xoxo

Coming Soon... Still Under Construction.
Starting this week, this blog will become my "daily" (minus weekends, because "Ain't Nobody Got Time For That" on the weekends) X-Files Blog. I am still certain that I will get flaky and either forget days or just be too lazy to write, but the intention is to watch and review the X-Files series here. I also want to amend that if there are To Be Continued episodes, I will most likely be bunching those together.

Tumblr to Trust Noone.
Wanna first start off by saying Happy April Fool's Day, and state that this isn't a AFD prank...
It's been a while since I've been on here. The reason is because I have moved the blog onto Tumblr. I know that it's not that convenient for the non-Tumblr crowd, but since I never really had a real following to begin with it didn't really seem to matter. If you would like to follow the Ramblings from the Short White Girl blog it can now be found on scully212.tumblr.com (You can still go to the web address if you don't have a Tumblr account, you just can't follow posts, so you have to save the site and check back often, well at least on Mondays and Thursdays...)
So why else am I posting here today? As you remember from last year, I've been debating on doing a daily blog. With Tumblr, I have managed to keep a consistent Movie Monday and Thursday 13 going...So does that mean that I'm ready for a REAL daily blog? Technically I'm still debating, but I'm leaning more toward yes. The topic (if Emily has anything to say in the matter) will be X-Files. There were 9 seasons (roughly 200 episodes) and 2 movies, I will most likely try to include the season of the Lone Gunman since it was only 13 episodes and a direct spin-off. While there's roughly 274 days left in the year, technically there's plenty of time to undergo this project (with some time to spare for lazy/busy-ness), I think that it's possible I'll end up doubling up on some days and covering multiple episodes (It will solely depend on my mood for the time, I am female after all, LoL). That way if time does get away from me, I'll still have the project completed by the end of the year.
Should things go as planned, I think that I will start in 2 weeks, because this week is already hectic, and next week is bound to be extremely busy, since it will be show week for Sketches 2014, WOW I can't believe that this show is already almost over. (Shameless Plug...If you are in the Somerset area next weekend, come see the show, it's Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening. Call SCC's theater box office for tickets... I'm stage managing, as usual, but its still a good show ;) ). And depending on how disciplined I am with this, maybe I will start a new blog at the first of next year and have a whopping 365 posts instead of starting one 4 months into the year.

25 Days...Give or take a couple of hours.
In approximately 25 days, I'll be 40. And I'm feeling good...
I've never felt the need to tell people that I'm just 29, or 25 and holding (which is what my mom tells people when they ask my age), age is just a number. Honestly, my policy has always been, you are only as old as you feel. Truthfully, I have never felt my age, 40, peesh, big deal. Until I do, I'll keep acting like the immature brat that I am :)
My life is a decent one. Yes, I live alone, and am slowly started turning into my reclusive grandmother (that's one that I do plan on changing), work 3ish jobs (all of which I enjoy!) to get by, but I'm loved, I'm close with my family and I have friends that I'd die for, I pay my bills (mostly on time LoL), and I have a roof over my head. My only "regret" and I use that word lightly since I'm also a firm believer that you should regret nothing...everything you have done previously in your life, has made you into the person you are (Karma/Fate/Universe has a way to make things be what they should be)...is that I haven't accomplished more in my life.
When I was younger, hell even when I got old enough to be responsible, I always thought that I was going to travel the world, live in a studio apartment in NY, and still backpack through Europe, try to climb Everest, see all of the 7 wonders of the world... Who knows, maybe one day I will be able to afford to do these, traveling to/living in Scotland and Italy are still on my Bucket List, and I'm far from dead yet! I always thought that I would earn my degree and be a teacher or do something fabulous with the theaters in NY or Chicago. Sigh... Again maybe one day I will be able to afford this, but with the life I lead now, I'm not sure that will happen anytime soon. And lastly, I always thought that I'd be married to someone wonderful and have a son, instead, I have 2 fur-babies that adore me. This is something again, that plausibly could happen, but NOT one that I'm holding my breath on.
I have always striven to be someone that others would be proud of. I know that's not always where I have landed, but ultimately I've worked towards that goal, and for the most part I've succeeded on that one. Starting another decade doesn't scare me as much as I think that it should...
So, what's this Ramble about? I really don't know... Maybe there's not a point other than I'm getting older. I could say that it's about this year's "resolution." Live life more fully and maybe make myself use my age more responsibly? (Nah, I'm going to go with the former, no point, just another year. But I will also agree that this year I am going to try to make some better choices and live the life I thought I was going to have when I was younger, Dragon Con over Labor Day -- here I come!)

Nope not going to be a sappy year in review or a list of new resolutions... At least at this time. Just letting you know that I am kinda excited about the prospects of this year. I'll be 40 in about 40 days, the job front keeps expanding (picked up another part-time job at WTLO radio station), Katie is directing the Sketches in the Spring so I might actually get cast for real, as well as the stage managing gig :), Jeff and I are seriously talking about going to DragonCon during Labor Day (which unless something really changes I should actually be able to afford!)and last night it snowed. (I might never be a huge fan of the white stuff due to idiot drivers and the fact that I don't do well with COLD, but it is truly beautiful as I sit here at work and watch the glittery remnants of snow float down.)
That's is honestly all that I have at the moment. I realize that I hadn't posted on here in a while since I have been completely obsessed with my Tumblr and the Captain Swan fandom (I blame Katie and Caitlyn (and Once Upon a Time) for my crazed-ness over fanfiction and Colin O'Donohue...Seth Who?)but one of my promises to myself for this year is to be more frequent on here.
