Childhood

There are very few movies that I get to see in the theater anymore because ticket prices are outrageous, that and I usually don't have anyone to go with (but that's another long-winded rant that I don't wanna hit on at the moment) and when I do go they are usually matinees. Tonight, however the friends and I went to see Rock of Ages. This is a movie that, not only did I want to see it again after I got out of it, I wouldn't mind spending the extra money to see it at full price. While it was cheesy, it was my kind of cheese... I love movies that actually take me away for the ride, and nowadays that's few and far between. It's because I come from a theatrical background, I tend not to get lost in films, I see the other stuff (acting, costuming, set work and scenery, etc...) The movie tonight took me to my childhood. There are plenty of movies that remind me of my childhood (Labyrinth, Princess Bride, the Goonies...)it's not quite the same. Rock of Ages made me feel like I was that teenager again, listening to my favorite music and having dreams of what the future should have been like. Maybe it's because it was a musical and I relate more to music? My favorite memories are watching movies like The King and I, My Fair Lady, Evita, Godspell with my father. I know I'm rambling and realize that my thought process has evaporated, what I really want to get across is that Rock of Ages is BRILLIANT and while I realize it being a musical, it won't be for everyone, my generation should go see this movie!
That's all she wrote for tonight. See the film, you will find yourself singing along, and hopefully loving it as much as I did. Ciao bella <3
